It has no fixed content of its own; its function is to carry the content of every other band to its appropriate destination. This is why it has no assigned writing systems in the door: writing is a technology for fixing meaning, but Mercury's domain is the fluid exchange between meanings. Like the quicksilver it is named for, it takes the shape of whatever contains it and escapes any attempt to hold it still.</p><p>This is the band of the trickster — not malevolent, but boundary-dissolving. It reveals the arbitrariness of categories by moving effortlessly between them. The scientist translating data into theory, the poet translating feeling into meter, the translator carrying meaning across languages — all draw on this band. It is the frequency of metaphor, analogy, and the sudden connection that makes two previously unrelated things reveal a hidden unity.</p>

<p>The cosmic principle of Mercurial Flow is Hermetic Communication — the recognition that the universe is a network of messages waiting to be decoded. Everything that exists is a signal. Every pattern carries information.
